Dharma Master Shou Yeh

Recently the true cultivator and Elder Dharma Master Shou Yeh arrived in New York City, where he will open Great Vehicle Monastery.

When in China, Master Shou Yeh lived on Wu T'ai Mountain, serving as abbot of Kuang Chi Mao P'eng. Later he went to Shanghai where he was abbot of P'u Chi Temple.

He has lived in Vietnam and Hong Kong. In Vietnam he built a temple and went into complete seclusion there. While on Wu T'ai Mountain, Master Shou Yeh used the blood from his tongue to completely write out The Avatamsaka Sutra, some 700,000 characters. His ascetic practices and cultivation of the way are on a level rarely found in the world today.

Upon his arrival in America, the Sino-American Buddhist Association, representing this country's Buddhists, welcomes him.

BODHIMANDALA

The Sino-American Buddhist Association will establish a great Bodhimandala at which Buddhists from all countries of the world will gather to investigate the Buddhadharma. This is a project of great importance. We ask that those people who wish to support the growth of Buddhism in America and the West bring forth hearts of generosity and contribute towards this goal. Contributors of 100,000 dollars will be recognized as founders; those who give 10,000 dollars as patrons; and those who give 1,000 dollars as donors. To fully accomplish this task will require an estimated 1,500,000 dollars, so it is necessary that those who have the ability to give produce the Bodhi mind and help themselves through helping others. The meritorious virtue of this assistance is without diminish.

END BIRTH AND DEATH

The Sino-American Buddhist Association announces its first 98 Day Winter Meditation Session. This Session will begin on November 15th, 1970, and last until February 20th, 1971. Not only will it be a first for Buddhism in the West, but a first for Buddhism throughout the world. Cultivation will begin at 3 a.m. and last until 12 p.m. in the evening every day for the entire 98 days, without interruption.

This session is intended for those true cultivators of the Buddhadharma who wish to step out of the triple world, understand the mind, and see the nature. Not wishing to miss this rare opportunity, many cultivators have made their reservations. This session is open to all. But, beware! This is not a casual affair. Only those who truly work to solve the problem of birth and death are encouraged to come. If you do not wish to end birth and death but would rather continue to revolve in the flaming wheel...then, do as you will. To solve the problems of human existence, however, you should certainly attend this session.

ABOVE THIS SKY
Above this sky,I see another sky.
Clouds above these clouds,
And looking down this pool
I see reflected high
An Eye But, not my eye.
