我說過這麼幾句話:

「不生煩惱莫疑心」:什麼事情也不要生煩惱, Everything's okay! No problem ;莫疑心,不要這也懷疑,那也懷疑的。

「總要管已少管人」:總要管自己。所以我現在雖然給你們做師父,我還是自己管自己。你們所有的罪過,犯的錯,我都認為我不會教你們,是我的不對,是我的錯誤;我沒盡到我的心,我不怪你們。所以總要管己,管束自己,克己復禮,也就是少管人。

「多認不是少爭理」:你要有不是,就把它承認過來。無論犯什麼錯誤,不要和人狡辯。

「安然清淨智慧生」:你要是心安理得,就沒有什麼外邊的麻煩,內裡頭也就沒有麻煩了,安然清淨智慧生。

「明心沒有礙難事」:明心的人什麼事也不會難,不會說,「喔!把我氣得要死要活的。」什麼事都不難,因為「法爾如是」,這個世界就是這麼回事,有什麼可怪的?沒有礙難事。什麼叫明心?明心就是什麼事都不難了。

「見性那有憂愁心」:你要真見性了,沒有什麼可憂愁的;死就死,活就活,這有什麼問題?為什麼要看得那麼嚴重?沒有憂愁心。

「佛光不是不普照」:每一個人心裡佛光不現前,都是「憂思恨怨心攪亂。」你為什麼不開悟?你年紀輕輕出家,應該開悟了,應該沒有瞋恨心了,你還是人家要是說你攀緣了,你就生瞋恨心了。你這怎麼能修行?

所以,修道是要「舉動行為管自己」,一舉一動都要管著自己;「行住坐臥不離家」,行住坐臥也不打妄想,不打妄想就是不離家。

I once mentioned these few phrases:

"Do not give rise to afflictions or doubts." No matter what, don't get afflicted. Everything's okay! No problem. You should not have doubts either. Don't doubt this and that.

"Always watch over yourself and don't meddle in other people's business." You should always watch over yourself. Even though I'm your teacher, I still watch over myself. If you create offenses or mistakes, I consider them my own because it shows that I haven't taught you well. I don't blame you since I didn't do my best to teach you. We should always watch over ourselves. "To overcome our desires and return to propriety" is the same as not meddling in others' business.

"Acknowledge your own faults and don't dispute over them." You should admit your faults. Don't argue with people no matter what mistake you make.

"When you are peaceful and pure, wisdom will manifest." If your conscience is clear, you will not have any external or internal trouble.

"One who understands his mind will have no obstructions." A person who comprehends the workings of his mind will not experience difficulties. He won't say, "Oh! This made me extremely upset!" Everything will become easy. Since the Dharma and the world are just as they are, there's nothing strange or difficult. What does it mean to understand your mind? It means everything is easy.

"How can someone who perceives his nature be anxious?" If you can perceive your inherent nature, there's nothing to worry about. When it's time for you to die or live, you just accept it. What's the problem? Why take it so seriously? Thus, you will have no worries.

"The Buddha's light shines universally." When the Buddha's light fails to manifest within people's minds, it is because "the mind is perturbed by worry, resentment, and enmity." Why are you not enlightened yet? Since you left the home-life at a young age, you should be enlightened and have no more hatred. Nevertheless, you still get angry when people call you an opportunist. How can you cultivate the Way if you're like that?

Thus, in cultivating the Way, one should:

"Watch over yourself in every move." You ought to reflect upon yourself in every action.

"Walking, standing, sitting, and lying down, do not leave your true origin." Do not entertain random thoughts as you walk, stand, sit, or recline. If you don't entertain random thoughts, you are not apart from your origin.
