He asked, "What did you attain there?"

The Master said, "Before I arrived in Caoxi I had not lost anything."

The Master later asked, "Does the great Master of Caoxi still recognize you?"

Qingyuan asked, "Do you recognize me now?"

The Master said, "Yes."

The Master said again, "How can you recognize me?"

Qingyuan replies "Although animals have many horns, the unicorn has only one horn, and that is sufficient."

Qingyuan told the Master to write a letter and take it to Dhyana Master Rang of Nanyue. After the Master returned, he asked, "High monk, you have promised me that a dull ax can dwell in the mountains. I now request permission to go." Qingyuan put one foot down. The Master bowed and left. He stayed on the southern plateau of the Nanyue southern mountains. Later the Master spoke Dharma at Tushita Monastery in Liangduan.

上人語錄 Venerable Master's Dharma Words
※慈悲源於自性,故意慈悲,流於諂媚;故意不慈悲,又變成冷淡 。太過猶如不及,凡事要行中道,即是無心無念。
◆Kindness should be a spontaneous expression of the heart. Contrived kindness becomes obsequious. Deliberate unkindness is simply meanness. Going overboard is just as bad as not doing enough. Follow the Middle Way in all matters and behave naturally, without deliberate intention.
