金剛彩雲道場神,得示現無邊色相樹,莊嚴道場解脫門。

金剛彩雲是這一位道場神的名字,他得到佛的境界,示現無邊色相樹,莊嚴道場解脫門。示現就是本來沒有,現在現出來;這個色就是有形有色有相,人人都可以看得見的,在這個菩提樹下現出種種非常美麗莊嚴這種的樹。現出這種樹為什麼呢?就是為了莊嚴這個道場,令道場道氣無量無邊,一看見那七重行樹的樣子,都發無上菩提心,得無上的菩提道。這一個道場神他得到這一種的境界,入這種解脫門。

蓮華光明道場神,得菩提樹下寂然不動,而充遍十方解脫門。

蓮華光明是這位道場神的名字,他得到佛的境界,是坐在菩提樹下寂然不動,寂然無所動,就是在那入定。雖然入定,可是他的光明充遍十方法界,用這個光來照化一切眾生,他得到這種的解脫門。

妙光照曜道場神,得顯示如來種種力解脫門。爾時,淨莊嚴幢道場神,承佛威力,自觀一切道場神眾,而說頌言。

妙光照曜就是道場神的名字,他得到顯示如來種種力,就是種種的力量。雖然說如來十力,要是詳細說起來,如來百力,千力,萬力有無量的力。所以說是如來種種的力,得到這種的解脫門。爾時,當爾之時,這個淨莊嚴幢道場神,他仰承著佛的大威神力,普遍觀察一切在這個道場裏邊的神眾,而說頌言,用偈頌再來把這長行的道理說一遍。

我念如來往昔時。於無量劫所修行。
諸佛出興鹹供養。故獲如空大功德。

這淨莊嚴幢道場神他說這四句偈頌,就是這樣說的。他說我念,念就是回憶,想一想這佛在往昔時,就是在因地無量劫以前的時候,於無量劫所修行,在無量劫無量劫這麼久的時間,他所修行的法門。什麼法門呢?他修廣修供養的法門,就是普賢菩薩十大願王的三者廣修供養。所以他說,諸佛出興鹹供養。十方所有的一切諸佛,出現於世的時候,釋迦牟尼佛在因地,他一起供養這十方諸佛,故獲如空大功德,所以他才能得到好像盡虛空通法界那無量無邊不可說不可說那麼多的功德。

佛昔修行無盡施。無量剎土微塵等。 
須彌光照菩提神。憶念善逝心欣慶。

佛昔修行無盡施,佛在以前修行布施的法門,不僅僅修行這財施、法施、無畏施,他修行這無盡無盡那麼多種的布施,所以說不能盡這麼多的布施。無量剎土微塵等,他所修的這個布施行門,譬如無量剎土那麼多的國土,微塵等,和那無量國土那麼多的微塵的數目。須彌光照菩提神,就是這個道場神,憶念善逝心欣慶,他想起佛在往昔所修行這個行門,心裏非常的歡喜,非常的讚歎,也願意學習這種的法門。

如來色相無有窮。變化周流一切剎。乃至夢中常示現。雷幢見此生歡喜。

如來色相無有窮,佛的法身、化身、報身都是無有窮盡,所以說色相無有窮盡。「變化周流一切剎」,佛的神通變化妙不可言,周流一切剎,就像水似的周而復始向各處流通。從這一個國家到那一個國家,從那一個國家又到那一個國家,周而復始,來教化一切眾生。「乃至夢中常示現」,不單眾生在行腳的時候,佛來教化度脫一切的眾生,乃至於在眾生睡夢之中,佛也常來示現,在夢中教化一切的眾生,令一切眾生發菩提心發大願力,行菩薩道求無上佛果。「雷幢見此生歡喜」,這個雷幢道場神見到這種的境界,心裏非常歡喜。

昔行捨行無量劫。能捨難捨眼如海。
如是捨行為眾生。此妙眼神能悟悅。

釋迦牟尼佛在因地所修行的捨行,無量劫,無量無邊無盡無盡那麼多的劫都是修這個捨行。他能捨人所不能捨的,捨什麼呢?捨眼睛,就單單捨眼睛也猶如大海那麼多。眼睛是人所最不能捨的一種根,那麼他能捨眼睛,猶如海那麼多,所以說能捨難捨,能捨人所不能捨的這種捨行。「如是捨行為眾生」,人所不能捨的他也能捨。如是捨行,像這一種的捨,修行喜捨這種行門為眾生,他是為了一切眾生,想教化一切眾生。「此妙眼神能悟悅」,這個妙眼道場神他能悟悅這種的境界。

無邊色相寶燄雲。現菩提場遍世間。
燄形清淨道場神。見佛自在生歡喜。

無邊色相,這是說到佛相好莊嚴,有無量無邊那麼多的色相,遊化無量無邊那麼多的國土,猶如寶燄雲一樣。「現菩提場遍世間」,普現這個菩提道場,遍滿所有的世間。「燄形清淨道場神」,這一個燄形清淨的道場神,見佛自在生歡喜。見到佛有這種的妙用,神通變化,自在不可思議,心裏就生一種讚歎和歡喜的心。

眾生行海無有邊。佛普彌綸雨法雨。
隨其根解除疑惑。華纓悟此心歡喜。

眾生所造的業也猶如大海一樣,所以說「眾生行海無有邊」,行海也就是業海。眾生所造的業,受報猶如大海一樣,沒有邊際。「佛普彌綸雨法兩」,佛普遍來令眾生的業障都消除,雨大法雨就是來教化一切眾生。「隨其根解除疑惑」,隨眾生的根性來除眾生的疑惑。「華纓悟此心歡喜」,這華纓道場神明白這個道理,心裏非常高興的。

無量法門差別義。辯才大海皆能入。
雨寶嚴具道場神。於心念念恆如是。
於不可說一切土。盡世言辭稱讚佛。
故獲名譽大功德。此勇眼神能憶念。

「無量法門差別義」,這法門無量,所以義理也就無量。義理無量,所以就有很多的分別,所以這差別義也無量。「辯才大海皆能入」,那麼所有的法門,諸法的妙義,要具足辯才大海才能入,所以佛具足辯才大海,能入一切的法門海。「雨寶嚴具道場神」,雨寶莊嚴具這個道場神,「於心念念恆如是」,他的心裏念念都是明白這種的解脫門。

「於不可說一切土」,因為國土太多了,像微塵那麼多,所以說不可說、不可說那麼多的國土,一切國土。「盡世言辭稱讚佛」,佛在因地的時候,在無量無量不可說不可說那麼多的佛土,盡世間所有的言辭來稱讚於佛,也就是用各種的語言來稱讚佛。「故獲名譽大功德」,所以得到這種大聲名,好的名譽,最大的功德,就因為在因地讚佛,所以才得到這種的果。「此勇眼神能憶念」,這是勇眼道場神他能明白這種的解脫門。

The Way-place Spirit named Vajra-colored Cloud obtained the liberation door of making appear trees of boundless forms to adorn Way-places.

Commentary:
The Way-place Spirit named Vajra-colored Cloud obtained the
state of the Buddha, the liberation door of making appear trees of boundless forms to adorn Way-places. He made these trees appear out of nothingness. These trees have various shapes and everyone can see them. All these beautiful and adorned trees appeared beneath the Bodhi tree. For what reason did they appear? To embellish the Way-place and make the energy of the Way boundless and limitless. When you see those trees, like the "seven rows of jeweled trees," you want to bring forth the resolve to attain supreme Bodhi. This Way-place spirit obtained this state and entered this liberation door.

Sutra:
The Way-place Spirit named Lotus Flower Brilliance obtained the liberation door of being still and serene beneath the Bodhi tree and yet pervading the ten directions.

Commentary:
The Way-place Spirit named Lotus Flower Brilliance obtained the
state of the Buddha, the liberation door of being still and serene, sitting in samadhi beneath the Bodhi tree and yet pervading the ten directions. Although he is unmoving, his brilliance pervades the ten directions of the Dharma Realm and teaches and transforms all living beings. He obtained this door to liberation.

Sutra:
The Way-place Spirit named Dazzling Wondrous Light obtained the liberation door of manifesting the various powers of the Thus Come One. At that time, the Way-place Spirit named Banner of Pure Adornment received the Buddha's awesome might, contemplated all the multitudes of Way-place spirits, and spoke the following verse.

Commentary:
The Way-place Spirit named Dazzling Wondrous Light obtained the liberation door of manifesting the various powers of the Thus Come One.
Although we speak of the Thus Come One as having Ten Powers, if we listed them in detail the Thus Come One's powers would number in the hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands...he has limitlessly many powers.

At that time, the Way-place Spirit named Banner of Pure Adornment received the Buddha's awesome spiritual might, contemplated all the multitudes of Way-place spirits, and spoke the following verse to reiterate the principles already expressed in prose.

Sutra:
I recollect how the Buddha, in times past,

Cultivated throughout limitless eons.

Making offerings to every Buddha appearing in the world,

He accrued merit and virtue as great as space.

Commentary:
The Way-place Spirit Banner of Pure Adornment spoke the following verse: I recollect and think about how the Buddha, in times past, on the causal ground limitlessly many eons ago, cultivated throughout limitless eons. What Dharma door did he cultivate? He cultivated the Dharma door of extensively making offerings, which is the third of Universal Worthy Bodhisattva's Ten Kings of Vows.

Making offerings to every Buddha appearing in the world, / He accrued merit and virtue as great as space. When each Buddha throughout the ten directions appeared in the world, Shakyamuni Buddha would be sure to make offerings to him. In this way, he earned indescribably great merit and virtue.

Sutra:
The Buddha in the past practiced infinite acts of giving, Equal in number to fine dust motes in measureless lands. The Bodhi Spirit named Sumeru Brilliant Illumination Recollected the Well Gone One with jubilation.

Commentary:
The Buddha in the past practiced infinite acts of giving.
The Buddha cultivated not only the giving of wealth, Dharma, and fearlessness, but infinitely many kinds of giving—too many to speak of. His deeds of giving were equal in number to fine dust motes in measureless lands.

The Bodhi Spirit, that is, the Way-place Spirit, named Sumeru Brilliant Illumination / Recollected the Well Gone One with jubilation. The thought of the Buddha's past practices inspired in him tremendous joy, praise, and the wish to emulate the Buddha.

Sutra:
The Thus Come One's forms are endless.
His transformations circulate through all lands.

Even in dreams he makes constant appearances.

Thunder Banner was delighted to see this.

Commentary:
The Thus Come One's forms are endless.
The Buddha's Dharma body, Reward body, and transformation bodies are all inexhaustible. His transformations circulate through all lands. The Buddha's spiritual penetrations are ineffably wonderful. Like swirling water, they circulate everywhere, going from one country to the next, teaching and transforming living beings.

Even in dreams he makes constant appearances. The Buddha teaches and rescues living beings not only when they are awake, but even in their sleep. He often appears in their dreams to teach living beings, inspiring them to bring forth the resolve for Bodhi and make great vows to cultivate the Bodhisattva Path and realize the supreme Buddha fruit.

The Way-place Spirit Thunder Banner was very delighted to see this state.

Sutra:
In the practice of giving during measureless eons in the past,
He was able to give an oceanic quantity of eyes,
 which are so hard to give.
He practiced giving in this manner for the sake of living beings. The Spirit Wondrous Eyes was able to awaken to this and rejoice.

Commentary:
In the
Buddha Shakyamuni's practice of giving during measureless eons in the past, when he was on the causal ground, he was able to give what other people could not part with. He was able to give an oceanic quantity of eyes, which are so hard to give. Just the eyes that he gave away were as profuse as an ocean. People cherish their eyes above all other faculties, but the Buddha gave away a limitless, ocean-vast amount of them. He was able to renounce what others could not.

He practiced giving in this manner for the sake of teaching and transforming all living beings.

The Way-place Spirit Wondrous Eyes was able to awaken to this state and rejoice.

Sutra:
His boundless forms, like precious, resplendent clouds,

Appear in Bodhi places throughout all worlds.

The Way-place Spirit named Pure Blazing Form

Happily observed the Buddha's self-mastery.

Commentary:
His boundless forms
refer to the Buddha's special marks and adornments. The Buddha's forms travel through numerous lands, like precious, resplendent clouds, and appear in Bodhi Way-places throughout all worlds. / The Way-place Spirit named Pure Blazing Form / Happily observed the Buddha's self-mastery. Observing the Buddha's wonderful use of spiritual powers and transformations, and his inconceivable self-mastery, he was inspired to praise and happiness.

Sutra:
The sea of living beings' deeds has no bounds.

The Buddha rains the Dharma rain everywhere,

Dispelling delusions according to their faculties and understanding.

Strands of Flowers awakened to this with delight.

Commentary:
The karma created by living beings resembles the great ocean. Thus the text says: The sea of living beings' deeds has no bounds. The sea of deeds is just the sea of karma. The karma that living beings create and the retribution they receive are boundless like the vast sea. The Buddha rains the great Dharma rain everywhere, extinguishing living beings' karmic hindrances, teaching and transforming them all, and dispelling delusions according to their faculties and understanding. The Way-place Spirit Strands of Flowers awakened to this with delight. He understood this principle and was very happy.

Sutra:
Measureless Dharma doors, all distinct in meaning,

With eloquence like a vast ocean, he is able to enter.

The Way-place Spirit Raining Down Jeweled Adornments

Is constantly mindful of this in thought after thought.

Throughout all lands, unspeakable in number,
He exhausted worldly phrases in praise of the Buddhas,

Thus obtaining renown and great merit.

This the Spirit Courageous Eyes is able to recall.

Commentary:
Measureless Dharma doors, all distinct in meaning.
Since there are limitless Dharma doors, there are also limitless meanings, which make for limitlessly many distinctions. In order to enter all Dharma doors and the wondrous meaning of all dharmas, one must be endowed with eloquence like a vast ocean. Since the Buddha possesses an eloquence of oceanic scope, he is able to enter the ocean of all Dharma doors. The Way-place Spirit named Raining Down Jeweled Adornments / Is constantly mindful of and understands this liberation door in thought after thought.

Throughout all lands, unspeakable in number, as numerous as motes of dust, when the Buddha was on the causal ground, he exhausted and used all worldly phrases and languages in praise of the Buddhas, / Thus obtaining the reward of great renown and great merit. / This the Way-place Spirit Courageous Eyes is able to recall and understand this door to liberation.
