易瑞明贏得全國學科優異獎學金申請許可
易瑞明是由全國五萬名高二學生中，選出准許繼續參加2001年全國學科優異獎學金競賽。去年十月一百二十多萬學生參加PSAT大學入學評估測驗預試。只有在少於百分之五的最高成績的學生之中才合乎學科優異的許可。贏得獎學金的名單將於明春公佈。PSAT依字句推理、評鑒閱讀、數理解析及寫作技巧諸項來評定學生校內、校外經年的學習成果。雖然只有高三的學生可參加學科優異獎學金的兢賽，但學生在初三時即可參加PSAT。恭喜！易瑞明，再接再勵！
顏芝安榮獲扶輪社獎
瑜珈市扶輪社將在五月九日頒發一百元獎金給培德女中高三學生顏芝安，這份榮譽是表揚她對社區的特出貢獻。恭禧！芝安！
胡明宇獲曼都西諾大學獎
培德中學高三學生胡明宇獲得今年曼都西諾社區大學的科學數學學院獎；高二易瑞明及女校校友SarahBabcock也獲得人文藝術學院獎。他們由曼都西諾社區大學教師提名，於五月十二日（星期五）晚七點於曼都西諾社區大學劇院接受一百元獎金及獎狀，恭禧！

Andy Epstein Wins
National Merit Program Recognition
Andy Epstein is among the 50,000 high school juniors nationwide who qualify to continue the 2001 National Merit Scholarship competition. Over 1,200,000 juniors took PSAT last October and less than 5% top scorers are eligible for Merit Program recognition. Scholarship winners will be announced next spring. PSAT measures verbal reasoning, critical reading, math problem-solving, and writing skills students have devel- oped over many years, both in and out of school. Although only juniors may enter the Merit Scholarship competition, students may take PSAT as early as 9th grade. Congratulations, Andy! Keep up the good work.
Zhian Gan Receives Rotary Club Award
On May 9, senior Zhian Gan will be awarded $100 by the Ukiah Rotary Club in recognition of her outstanding contribution in community service. Congratulations, Zhian!
Mendocino College Awards
DVBS senior Irving Hu received this year's Faculty Award for Science and Math, and DVBS junior Andy Epstein and DVGS graduate Sarah Babcock received the Faculty Award for Arts and Humanities from Mendocino College. Nominated by Mendocino College instructors, these students will be presented with their awards and $100 each at 7 pm on May 12, in the Mendocino College Theater. Congratulations!
