高大慶居士,出生於台灣。1978年攜眷移民南美洲厄瓜多爾,夫妻倆人胼手胝足,辛勤耕耘,最後成為頗具規模的運動器材連鎖店。事業上一帆風順之際,卻加速了自性上的迷失,每日汲汲營營於五欲的追求。雖然從小在佛教家庭中長大,雙親在二十多年前即已皈依上人。高居士自認業障深重,以致法不入心。

1997年一個惡緣的出現,反而讓他有機會遇到善知識——他的二姊適時地來到厄瓜多爾,把她所認識的佛教及上人的法,傾囊而授。同年十月他第一次來到萬佛城,打了生平第一次的觀音七;在與世隔絕的環境中,令他有超然物外之感,頓覺身心清涼。

1998年遭人兩度勒索,更覺業報如影隨形,唯有學佛修行才能了卻。此後即往返兩地,陸續參加禪七、華嚴法會、觀音七等。

高居士經此薰修,加上法師從旁開導,深悔往昔愚癡顛倒的言行,毅然決然放下一切,於1998年地藏七時住進如來寺,並受三皈五戒,法名親慶。有感於《普賢行願品》所言:「若此惡業有體相者,盡虛空界不能容受。」因此發心義務工作,任怨執勞,調養心性,期能折驕慢幢,消除業障。

經云:「業障如晨露;懺悔若朝陽。」高居士覺得最好的懺悔就是即時放下,出家修行,才能開啟智慧,了生脫死。進而於今年三月參加了「沙彌先修班」,接受訓練課程,準備六個月後剃度。


pasaka Daqing Gao was born in Taiwan. In 1978 he and his family emigrated to Ecuador, South America. Through hard work, he and his wife established a sizable store selling exercise equipment. His business success, however, only accelerated the con­fusion of his spirit. He indulged in the pursuit of the five desires every day. Despite growing up in a Buddhist family with parents who had taken refuge with the Venerable Master over twenty years ago, Upasaka Gao laments that his own deep karmic obstacles prevented him from accepting the Dharma.

In 1997 an adverse circumstance led him to encounter a good teacher—his sister went to Ecuador right at the opportune time and told him everything she knew about Buddhism and the Venerable Master's Dharma. In October of that year he came to the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas and attended a Guanyin Recitation Session for the first time in his life. In an environment isolated from the rest of the world, he had a transcendental experience of physical and mental purity. In 1998 he was the victim of two extortions, which made him realize that our karmic retributions constantly shadow us and can only be eradicated through cultivating Buddhism. Afterwards he traveled back and forth between the two countries, attending a Chan Session, an Avatamsaka Dharma Assembly, a Guanyin Session, and so on.

Through such practices and the instructions of Dharma Masters, Upasaka Gao came to deeply regret his past foolish conduct and resolved to renounce it all. During the Earth Store Session in 1998, he moved into Tathagata Monastery, took the Three Refuges and Five Precepts, and received the Dharma name Qin Qing. He was moved by the line in the Chapter of Universal Worthy's Conduct and Vows which says, "If this evil karma had a substance and form, all of empty space could not contain it." Thereupon he resolved to work as a volunteer, disciplining his mind through toil in hopes of overcoming his arrogance and karmic obstacles.

A Sutra says, "Karmic obstacles are like the dew at dawn; repen­tance is like the morning sun." In Upasaka Gao's opinion, the best way to repent is to renounce one's mistakes, and only by leaving the home life to cultivate can one develop wisdom and end birth and death. In March of this year he joined the Preliminary Training for Shramaneras in preparation for shaving his head (becoming a novice) six months later.
