夏末屬土,南瓜,山芋,柿子,蘋果和栗子等熟甜。這些瓜果能調和滋潤我們的胃與脾,而精白糖中的空甜,反而害之。用這些瓜果作出來的麵包和甜點,可口怡人。 試試看,自己作!

瓜果糕點
紅蘿蔔點, 南瓜糕點, 新鮮蘋果糕點

2杯 全麥麵包
1茶匙 鹽
1茶匙 無鋁蘇打粉(不用亦可)
1茶匙 薑粉
1茶匙 月桂粉
1茶匙 香草精
1茶匙 細碎橘子皮
*3杯 切碎的紅蘿蔔,新鮮切碎的蘋果,或者是煮過的南瓜
1/2杯 葡萄乾
1/2杯 乾果
1杯 蘋果汁或烤穀咖啡

把所有的材料混合攪拌,以華氏350度烤1小時。

*附記﹕同法可作蕃薯、柿子糕點。如果喜歡甜味,可增加1/2杯天然糖精。


Late summer is associated with the element of earth and the full sweet flavor in foods such as squash, yams, persimmons, apples, and millet. These foods harmonize and nourish the stomach and spleen, whereas the empty sweet flavor in refined sugars may be harmful to them. Breads and desserts made from these foods can be delicious and satisfy many a sweet tooth. Try for yourself!

A Treasury of Cakes:

Carrot Cake, Squash Cake, Apple Cake

2 cups whole wheat flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda (aluminum free) optional
1 tsp. each ginger and cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
*3 cups grated carrots, freshly chopped apples, or winter
squash, cooked
1 tbs. grated orange rind
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup nuts
1 cup apple juice or grain coffee

Mix ingredients together and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
*Note: Try pumpkin, yams or persimmons. If you like it sweeter, add 1/2 cup natural sweetener.
