Bhikshuni Heng Tai currently lives at Ziyun Dong (Purple Cloud Cave), a branch temple of Dharma Realm Buddhist Association in Malaysia. After reading the book News of True Cultivators, her admiration for the Ven. Master's virtue and his painstaking efforts to teach living beings made her renounce her career and plan to travel around the world, and come with a friend to the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas in 1989. Before long, with the Ven. Master's compassion, she left the home-life and was fully ordained in 1991.
Later, ripening conditions led her to return to Malaysia to introduce people in this Theravadan country to the Mahayana Buddhadharma. She feels that people nowadays suffer great psychological stress, so it becomes even more important to hear the Dharma, which can bring forth our inherent wisdom and help us lead healthy lives free of afflictions. In scheduling the temple's activities, she emphasizes the Dharma lectures, which introduce people to the Mahayana Dharma and the principles of being human. People can get to hear the proper Dharma only if they have blessings. When we encounter the proper Dharma, we should cherish it, and then we should at least adopt a proper philosophy of life. Next, we should reflect within ourselves, free ourselves from love and desire, and end birth and death. In order to sustain everyone's good conditions for learning Buddhism, the temple conducts the Medicine Master Repentance, the Water Repentance and twenty-four hour recitations of the Great Compassion Mantra and the Shurangama Mantra every month. There are also classes for Buddhist study and painting every Sunday. While adults are studying the Buddhadharma, children attend the daycare program.
In managing the administration, kitchen, and matters related to the temple's devotees, Bhikshuni Heng Tai bases herself on the Six Guidelines of the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas and tries her best to serve Buddhism and living beings. Working diligently and relying on the Ven. Master's instructions and the wisdom of her Dharma brothers, she has an indomitable strength which overcomes all difficulties. She inspires laypeople to give their utmost support to the temple and strengthen their cultivation. She relates that her own faith has grown due to the inconceivable responses which occur whenever the temple is in difficulty. The road of cultivation is long and continuous; she hopes to base herself on the spirit of precepts and the instructions of a Good and Wise Advisor and do her best to help living beings succeed.
