From the International Virtue Society
Compiled by Heavenly River Water

No matter whom Good Man Wang worked for,
he never argued with his employer over wanges.

A reminder from previous issue:
When Good Man Wang brought his grandfather home to take care of him, his fourth aunt forced him to pay his grandfather’s debt by taking her case to court.

One day, Grandpa said to Good Man Wang, "Did she sue you? She was simply trying to cut off my food supply and let me starve!" Good Man Wang said quickly, "Don't worry, Grandpa, I am your grandson for real. Even if I have to go out and beg for food, I’d carry you on my back. I’d never forsake you! Please relax, Grandpa!"

"Everything is a test, to see what you will do." Good Man Wang had a simple and sincere isposition. The more adversity he met, the more determined he grew. He said, "As long as it's right, no matter how difficult it is, I won't be afraid. And in supporting Grandpa, the more pressure my aunt puts on me, the more capable of practicing filiality I shall become.

10.Learning to Be Frugal

When he was twenty-one, Good Man Wang went to Shi Li Tai in Jin-zhou City of Liao-Ning Province, a hundred and thirty li from hone, to work for his cousin, named Chang. He worked there for four years.

At that time, workers who were looking for work would often bargain with the employer over wages, and some of them would argue over a tiny amount of money until they were red in the face, refusing to compromise. Because Good Man Wang witnessed this many times, he felt very bad about it , and secretly made a vow, "In my life, I will not be someone who argues over wages." For that reason, no matter whom he worked for, he accepted whatever wages he was paid, and he never argued with his employer over wages. He would never do his work perfunctorily because of low wages.
