爾時佛放白毫一光。即見東方五百萬億那由他恆河沙等國土諸佛。彼諸國土。皆以玻瓈為地。寶樹寶衣以為莊嚴。無數千萬億菩薩充滿其中。遍張寶幔。寶網羅上。

這個大菩薩,我們這個天人,不但願意見多寶如來的全身,我們也願意見本師釋迦牟尼佛所有的分身諸佛,我們也願意禮拜供養。「當爾之時」,所以,佛放白毫一光,佛就是釋迦牟尼佛,放白毫一光。白毫相光,白毫相是在兩目中間和這個兩眉之間的地方,有一種白毫相,白毫相一放出來的時候,是很細的,但是它光,就是非常光,一道白毫相光,「即見束方」,照其東方「五百萬億那由他恆河沙等國土」,照見東方不是一個國兩個國,照見五百萬億這麼多,「那由他恆河沙等國土」,那由他是大數目之一,恆河沙也是。五百萬億那由他和恆河沙這麼多數目,這是很多了。諸佛國土那些地方,那些國土。「彼諸國土,皆以玻瓈為地」,這玻瓈表示光明智慧,「寶樹寶衣以為莊嚴。這個五百萬億那由他恆河沙這麼多的諸佛國土,以玻瓈為地,不像我們這個娑婆世界,瓦石為地,土石為地。在釋迦牟尼佛開七寶佛塔之前,三變土田,三次變娑婆國土的土田都給變成了玻瓈為地。現在照到東方的五百萬億佛的國土,以玻璃為地,有寶樹寶花以為莊嚴。寶樹,這種樹能令眾生得到清涼,得到保護。寶衣,就是一種和柔忍辱為衣,以為莊嚴。這個國家就因為寶樹寶衣玻璃為地來莊嚴。「無數千萬億菩薩充滿其中」,就有無數千萬億菩薩。什麼叫無數千萬億菩薩?就是念念的菩提心,念念的菩提心就是無數的菩薩充滿其中,無數千萬億菩薩充滿其中。「遍張寶幔」,用寶幔,用珠寶所造成的幔帳。「寶網羅上」,寶網就是網羅,即譬喻修持戒,修持戒品,就叫寶網羅上。

彼國諸佛。以大妙音而說諸法。及見無量千萬億菩薩。遍滿諸國為眾說法。南西北方四維上下。白毫相光所照之處。亦復如是。

「彼國諸佛」,在這個五百萬億佛國裡邊有無量的諸佛「以大妙音」,以大妙的音聲「而說諸法」,說這一切的諸法,演說實相之法。「及見無量千萬億菩薩,遍滿諸國」,又看見無量無數千萬億那麼多的菩薩遍滿諸國。「為眾說法」,為大眾來說法。

「南西北方」,東方是這樣的,南方、北方「四維」,東南、西南、東北、西北四維「上下」,上方、下方,「白毫相光所照之處」,在釋迦牟尼佛白毫相光所照之處。「亦復如是」,也像這樣子,每一方有五百萬億那由他恆河沙諸佛國土。那些佛,那些菩薩來為眾生說法,為什麼先到東方呢?因為東方是一切的開始,從東方開始,所以先到東方。

爾時十方諸佛。各告眾菩薩言。善男子。我今應往娑婆世界。釋迦牟尼佛所。並供養多寶如來寶塔。

當爾之時,所有十方的五百萬億那由他恆河沙諸佛國土諸佛,「各告眾菩薩」,每一位佛告訴他那國家的大菩薩言:善男子!「我今應往娑婆世界」,我現在時機已經成熟了,這個時候到了,所以我應該到娑婆世界。娑婆是梵語,言其眾生堪能忍受世界這個苦惱,這個世界的苦太多了,有三苦、八苦、無量諸苦。

Sutra:
At that time the Buddha emitted a white-hair mark light in which were seen the Buddhas of the lands in the Eastern direction equal in number to the grains of sand in five hundred myriads of millions of nayutas of Ganges Rivers. All the Buddhalands had crystal for soil, and were adorned with jeweled trees and jeweled clothing. Countless thousands of myriads of millions of Bodhisattvas filled them. They were covered with jeweled canopies and jeweled nets.

Commentary:
Not only did the Bodhisattva Great Delight in Speaking want to see Many Jewels Buddha, but he wanted to see all the transformations of Shakyamuni Buddha. At that time the Buddha, Shakyamuni, emitted a white-hair mark light. This hairmark light is emitted from between the Buddha's eyebrows. When it is emitted it is very subtle, but extremely brilliant .... in which were seen the Buddhas of the lands in the Eastern direction equal in number to the grains of sand in five hundred myriads of millions of nayutas of Ganges Rivers. It didn't shine into just one or two lands, but into limitless, uncountable, nayutas of worlds.

All the Buddhalands had crystal for soil-crystal represents light, wisdom light-and were adorned with jeweled trees and jeweled clothing. Jeweled trees make living beings feel refreshed and shaded with protection. Jeweled clothing refers to patience and compliance. Countless thousands of myriads of millions of Bodhisattvas filled them. Who are the Bodhisattvas? They are just those who give rise to the Bodhi mind in every thought. They were covered with jeweled canopies and jeweled nets. The nets refer to the cultivation of the Precepts.

Sutra:
The Buddhas in those lands with a great and wonderful sound, were speaking the Dharma. Also seen were limitless thousands of myriads of millions of Bodhisattvas filling those lands, speaking the Dharma for the multitudes. Thus it was also in the South, West, North, the four intermediate directions, as well as up and downward wherever the white hair-mark light shone.

Commentary:
The
immeasurably many Buddhas in those five hundred myriads of millions of Buddha-lands with a great and wonderful sound, were speaking the Dharma. With a tremendous and wondrous sound they spoke all the Dharmas. Also seen were limitless thousands of myriads of millions of Bodhisattvas filling those lands speaking the Dharma for the multitudes. Countless thousands of myriads of millions of Bodhisattvas were seen speaking the Dharma for the great assembly. Thus it was in the east, and also in the south, west, north, and in the four intermediate directions, southeast, southwest, northeast and northwest, as well as up and downward, wherever the white hair-mark light shone. In every direction, there were also as many Buddha-lands as the sands of five hundred myriads of millions of nayutas of Ganges Rivers. Those Buddhas and Bodhisattvas who came to speak the Dharma go to the eastern direction first? It's because the east is the beginning of everything. Everything starts in the east, so they went there first.

Sutra:
At that time all the Buddhas of the ten directions addressed the host of Bodhisattvas saying, "Good men! We should now go to the Saha world, to the place of Shakyamuni Buddha and make offerings to the stupa of the Thus Come One Many Jewels."

Commentary:
At that time
, when all the limitless nayutas of worlds in the ten directions Buddhas. All the Buddhas of the ten directions addressed the host of Bodhisattvas, saying, "Good Men! We should now go to the Saha World, to the place of Shakyamuni Buddha and make offerings to the stupa of the Thus Come One Many Jewels. The time is ripe!" "Saha" is a Sanskrit word which means "endurable." Living beings are able to endure the sufferings of the Saha World. There are a great many varieties of suffering in this world. There are the three sufferings, the eight sufferings, and all the limitless sufferings.
