Turn Around

by Upasika Kuo Chi Cassell

What does it take to make you see,
That this life as you know it
Is like a dream, an illusion, a bubble.
You go spinning around in the wheel of rebirth,
Not knowing where you're from, or where you'll go.
Indulging in desires, five skandhas are your friends.
To be apart from the dust, and attachment to marks,
Is to return to what's proper and true.
Everyone has the Buddhanature,
It's in me as well as in you.
To forsake what is near and run after what's far,

A person just becomes more confused.
While investigating Ch'an, contemplate "Who,"
And awaken to who you really are.
