Sculptural Echoes

by Georgette Sheldon

Following months of hard, joyful work and hectic preparations, the Northern California sculpture exhibit co-sponsored by D.R.B.U., opened its doors on Sept. 20th. For five weeks, over three hundred visitors had attended the exhibit. Fifteen artists participated in the show which closed October 31st.

Viewers came from various areas in California as well as Washington state and as far east as Illinois. For many of them, this was their first visit to the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas.

Their comments indicated that the show was generally well received. We noted with amusement the comments of a local exhibit viewer from Talmage: "But I had no idea that ALL THIS was going on in HERE...how wonderful!"

We too feel that the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas has brought peace and love together with constructive endeavors and human spiritual renewal, to a place which at one time contained so much pain and mental aberration.

Just as the sun, going through the autumn equinox softens its rays, the Sculpture Department is also going through a more subdued, introspective mood, full of promise for the year ahead.
