Eighth Patriarch Hsu-yun T’e-ch’ing’s 56-character Verse for the Transmission of the Weiyang Sect:

The virtue of words proclaims in profusion and the Way greatly prospers.
The morality tripod’s fragrance permeates with five shares renewed.
The wisdom flames fully pervade, enveloping worlds as many as sands.
The incense cloud everywhere masks the splendor of old and new.
Kindness and pity deliver the world with vows which have no end.
The light excels the sun and moon, bright and totally clear.
He revived the sect and held the flower to propagate the Wei.
The perfect mark of the mind-lamp is eternally glorious and bright.

Verses on the Source and Lineage of the Golden-crowned Vairochana Sect of the Chan School

Chan Master Baozhi’s 28-character Verse for the Transmission of the Sect:

The precious tree is erected; the lotus of virtue is fragrant.
The mind is resolved on Ultimate Bliss and longs for comfort and ease.
The example set by the purple-golden one in ancient times will always remain.
Vairochana’s nature sea will flourish for ten thousand generations.

Chan Master Changhai’s 40-character Verse for the Continuation of the Sect:

Samadhi and stillness of hearing are the sect’s tradition.
Kindness and blessings are the true virtue of the Dharma.
Proper goodness seals the meaning of the patriarchs.
Universally propagate and believe in its profound wonder.
It’s exalted manifestation has always been rare.
The nature is empty, perfect, and brightly illuminating.
Reflect upon and cultivate the fruition of eternal peace.
Personally transmit the unconditioned teaching.
