When we are cultivating we have to be patient. If we cannot be patient, we will have nowhere to go when we meet the demons. Our Teacher, Venerable Master Hsuan Hua, has said that when we are cultivating we have to be patient. He gave a "mantra":
Patience, patience, got to have patience, don't get angry, Swo Pe He.
The reason our Master said this mantra is that he hoped we would have patience when
cultivating and when facing demons. Otherwise we will fail the test and maybe return to
lay-life, or perhaps even commit suicide.
Remember: we have to be patient. Patience is a cultivator's great helper.
