Relief Tent Drive
For Sichuan Earthquake Victims
A purely grassroots initiative by individuals, teachers, students, monastics, schools and business community
On the afternoon of May 12, 2008, an earthquake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale hit Sichuan Province, a mountainous region in Western China. Over 68,000 people are killed at this moment, and another 365,399 people injured and 19,350 missing. The Chinese government has informed international aid agencies and other nations that 3.3 million tents are needed and urged them to give tents their highest priority to shelter 5 million people made homeless from the quake-hit regions.
China may be the factory of the world but not even this mega production house can produce 3 million tents overnight. Please join the tent donation drive jointly organized by Northern California China 5/12 Earthquake Relief (www.NCC512.org) and members of The Sichuan Earthquake Relief Committee (SERC).
In a good will gesture, United Airline (UA) and United Parcel Service (UPS) have offered to fly the relief supplies to China at no charge from San Francisco and other particiapting stations in USA and Australia whenever they have available cargo space. For more information see UA and UPS websites at
